Wednesday Community Day @ The Insect Asylum
Welcome to The Insect Asylum for our Community Wednesdays: 1/2 Off Museum Admission
Our showroom exhibits boast an impressive 2,500 insect specimen and a menagerie of all creation. The museum is touch-friendly so dont be afraid to lay some clean hands on ‘Long John,’ our towering Giraffe mount. Feel free to get up close with our mountain goats and put your hand in the mouth of a Brown Bear if you dare. This is a museum to excite and interest all types. Learn the history of our fijian Jenny Haniver Stingray or go back in time with our vintage antiques and taxidermy. We also have our Specimen Director providing time slot access to our Animal Ambasador “Hazel” the Opossum. Feel free to spend some quality couch time with her!
We have our Resident Entomologist available for free Live Bug Tours to demonstrate the wonders of our newly improved live insect library in our second floor classroom area.
Because we are a Safe Surrender Space we have a number of animal guests that are open for adoption! Our mated pair Mourning Doves are looking for a family. Their peachy feathers and hand-tame friendly attitudes warm our hearts while they sing and coo all day. We never know who we may be hosting at the time so feel free to come on by and ask the staff.
