A Non-Profit Vintage Taxidermy & Insect Museum

Welcome to the Insect Asylum—a unique museum celebrating the amazing world of insects and their vital role in our ecosystem. With over 5,000 specimens and interactive exhibits, our hands-on showroom offers an immersive experience where you can touch, explore, and learn.

See live insects up close and discover some of the planet’s most diverse species. Interested in specimen preservation? Join one of our inspiring classes. Our museum isn’t just about science and art—it’s a community hub featuring music, poetry, and dance events in a whimsical, welcoming space for all ages.

We’re available for event rentals, educational programs, commissions, partnerships, and more. As a nonprofit, every dollar supports our mission to educate and inspire.

Plus, our gift shop is free to the public and open during regular hours, showcasing works from over 60 local independent artists. There’s always something new to discover!

Please visit our Memorials page to honor the passing of Hazel Mae the Opossum.

We're working our way weekly through archiving The Insect Asylum's collection! Each piece has a story, and Nina tells all!

Education

The Insect Asylum is committed to providing a unique and immersive educational experience that fosters an appreciation for animals and the natural world. As an institution that values art, we believe that taxidermy and entomology are important practices. By combining education and art, we aim to inspire curiosity and respect for nature in everyone.
